Remember the Good

This picture is a reminder to me that sweet moments can be found every day.  This was taken during the  most difficult week of my life early in December.  I took this from inside my kitchen.  They are reading their Highlights magazines together on the slide.

First week of Advent 2011

We have lots of activities going for the Advent Season.  Our main resource is Truth in the Tinsel.  It is a wonderful resource for crafts for this season.  Each day begins with a scripture reading followed by a craft that coordinates with the scripture then a follow up discussion.  I cut the little clue cards for each day and put them in our snowman Christmas countdown.
We also made this countdown chain that also has a clue for the craft for that day.

Day One: Light
Day Two: Crown

 Day Three: Zechariah
I somehow don't have a picture of this craft.

Day Four: Gabriel

Each Sunday in Advent we light a candle on our Advent Wreath and have a special family devotion.  We also have a book of devotions that we are working through each night until Christmas.

These crafts are suppose to be ornaments.  I knew when we began that 24 craft ornaments (times two) were not going to fit well on our Christmas tree.  My original plan was to buy a small tree to put in our homeschool room for these ornaments, but I decided not to spend the money on another tree.  We decided to decorate these buckets that we already have and just make a bucket full of Advent crafts.  Works great!
