And we begin again...

After enjoying three weeks off for Christmas break, Monday found us beginning a week once again with the Pledge, calendar time, and Bible lessons.  Over all we had a very pleasant return.

All About Spelling

Caleb finished All About Spelling Level 1 in December.  He was very excited to begin level 2 this week, a little less excited to realize how much review is involved in the first lesson.

Morris Museum of Art

The Morris Museum of Art in downtown Augusta, GA is free on Sundays and one Sunday a month they have a children's activity.  We finally decided to try it out.  I was amazed at how much the kids enjoyed walking through the galleries while we waiting for the program to begin.

The program was local authors sharing their books.  Afterwards the kids were invited to create their own book and bookmark.

The last story was called Oliver Vance, Pull Up Your Pants.  Here is Hannah posing with Oliver.  This was their favorite story of the day.
They both had fun making bookmarks.  They didn't want to write a story while there, but they brought books home to create later.  Hannah has been crafting a beautiful story all week.
The weather was fantastic and the museum is right along the river so we enjoyed a walk by the water.
Hannah was pleased to pose with her bookmark.

Happy 7th Birthday, Caleb!

We began celebrating on December 30, 2011 by enjoying pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream with family at lunch time.

With so many cupcakes still left, we decided to celebrate again later that night by having our neighbors come over.

January 3, 2012 we celebrated again as it was actually his birthday.  He requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.

Then we headed to Edventure Museum in Columbia, SC for the day.
 Firemen
 More fireman action...
MORE fireman action!  They really enjoy playing on the fire truck and visited this area twice.
Always gotta have a picture on the tractor
The grocery store- Hannah's favorite spot!  We spent a huge amount of time here and visited it twice.
 The Vet Clinic
This was by far Caleb's favorite!  He played here twice and the second time he stayed for about an hour.

 Hannah enjoyed being a dentist.
Caleb has loved skeletons for a long time so he thought this was cool.

Pretending to be news anchors was also high on Caleb's favorites list.
And of course, we had to end the day at Chili's with a Molten Chocolate cake!

Christmas Day in Pictures

Snowflake Showoff

The last gymnastics class of the year was a Snowflake Showoff where the kids got to "show-off" what they have learned.  At the end they each got to stand on the awards platform and receive a medal.  It was lots of fun (with the exception of Caleb beginning a horrible stomach virus while we were there).

Truth in the Tinsel: Days 16-24

Day 16 Sleeping Jesus in Blanket
Day 17 Sheep
 Day 18 Angel
 Day 19 Shepherd (no picture)
Day 20 Temple (no picture)
Day 21 Star (no picture)

Day 22 Wise Men

Day 23 Scented Ornament (we made these last year and I opted not to venture into the mess of this one in the midst of so much other Christmas activity)

Day 24 Cross

We LOVED completing Truth in the Tinsel.  I highly recommend this curriculum to anyone with kids ages 3-7 (maybe even 8 or 9 if the child loves crafts).
