First Day of School

August 3, 2009 was our first day of school. It was a fun and busy day though certainly not without problems. Caleb began the school day pouting in his room insisting that he is not doing Kindergarten. "I'm not doing big school, I'm not doing little school, NO SCHOOL!". Wow, I didn't expect the resistence to begin so soon! I ignored him and began school with Hannah. Caleb decided it sounded like we were having fun without him and happily joined us. Here are a few highlights from our day. I will include more details about what we were learning this week in my weekly review post.

Both kids practiced writing the number 1 in shaving cream. This lasted about 2 seconds before they had both hands in smearing it everywhere. Yes, that is suppose to happen! Why would I give them a pile of shaving cream and expect them NOT to play in it? They did write a few 1's in the process.

Hannah sorted pictures by day and night as we discussed that on the first day God created day and night. She did a great job with this and has picked it up several times this week to do on her own.

Hannah shook this egg carton then opened it up to tell me if the button landed on the number 1. L,I, and 2 were also in the egg carton.

They glued a black triangle onto white paper. Day 1- God created Day and Night.

Caleb said his favorite thing about his first day of Kindergarten was his new pencil! It is nothing fancy, just a pencil, but he loves it and can't wait to use it each day. He is even trying really hard to hold it properly which is really a challenge for him.

  1. Thanks for posting all about your week!!! I thought it was only Olivia who could be stubborn (o: Friday she just did not want to participate. I said, "Okay, go play then." I stayed in the office doing some stuff and after going through this several times she finally decided she would rather be in there with me and became engaged (o: Thanks for blogging!!!!!
