A couple of weeks ago we were learning about clouds and a little bit of weather. During that week we were suppose to read Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett. We have read this book before, but I wanted to plan a special day including watching the new movie based on this book. I requested a hold on the movie from our library and we finally got it this week. We have had a fun couple of days with this book. Yesterday we read Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs as well as the sequel Pickles to Pittsburgh. Caleb helped plan a menu for today based on food from the book.
We started the day with pancakes because the whole story gets started because Grandpa was making pancakes for breakfast and flipped one on Henry's head.
He decided on cheeseburgers for lunch. After leaving the library to pick up our movie, Caleb decided that it would be a GREAT idea to get our burgers from McDonald's instead of making them at home. I allowed this adjustment even though once we got to McDonald's both C and H requested chicken nuggets instead of cheeseburgers. I don't recall nuggets in the book, but I went along with it. They also got to enjoy a long play time at the McDonald's playground. It was a beautiful day for it! Then it was off to Wal-Mart to pick up some donuts which Caleb decided would be great for dessert after dinner. This is only the second time the kids have had donuts. They each got to pick out one.
Dinner was spaghetti which Caleb frequently requests. And I have even convinced him to start eating it with sauce. He likes it that way only because it makes it easier to suck the long noodles into his mouth one by one. I know...wonderful table manner:)
NO, Hannah DID NOT make a mess...if you believe that you've NEVER eaten with Hannah!
Caleb chose a donut with pink and chocolate icing.
Hannah want one with sprinkles.
And then the grand finally...MOVIE NIGHT! Popcorn, sleeping bags, bean bags, lights out!
Okay, honestly I did not like this movie, but Caleb did and we had a great day!
What a fun day!
