The Little Scarecrow Boy

We had a really fun week learning about scarecrows.  We had some great books and really fun songs.  Reading, singing, and crafts are always our favorite part of the day.  We always begin with these activities because at ages 4 and 5 if we never make it to our bookwork that day, no big deal, reading, singing, creating and playing are MUCH MORE IMPORTANT and they are learning so much in the process.  Since I continue to be behind on posts (this is our post for what we did Nov 1-6) I will mostly just share some pictures from the week and a few highlights.  We do so much more than I write about hear of course.

I came SO CLOSE to making a switch from using ITTY BITTY BOOKWORM, I'm glad I didn't.  I just love the books, crafts, and songs we get from this curriculum.

We painted a corn field- WITH CORN!  The kids LOVED this!  We have been painting a ton lately and are quickly running out of paint.  I have to stock back up immediately.

We collected hay from our fall decorations to make a house of hay that went along with our story this week.  The kids thought this was FABULOUS!

McRuffy Phonics- Kindergarten
Caleb continues to do well with his spelling tests and handwriting and INSISTS that I write "PERFECT" on EVERY paper.

McRuffy Math- First Grade
Math continues to go well too.  We have been working on counting from 200-300, skip counting by twos, fives, and tens, adding two-digit numbers, creating tables, and reading and writing number words.

Preschool
Hannah hs developed a major passion for coloring!  She carries coloring books and crayons, markers, or pens with her everywhere.  She is constantly begging Mommy and Daddy to color with her.

Physical Education
We go to a preschool gym class every Friday that the kids LOVE.  They are the oldest kids there but they have a blast every week.  This week was a special treat- Daddy got to go with us.

Other Fun Stuff
I had a fabulous 50% off coupon for Steede's Dairy Farm.  This new farm is only 20 minutes from our house and was SO MUCH FUN.  The weather was perfect and it wasn't crowded so we let the kids play and play for hours.

  1. Looks like a fun week. I wish Sam would participate in singing or crafts, but he hates both. With a passion. But we read, and read, and read :). Taking 30 books back to the library today... Wish we could have checked out that farm. Looks great!
